Haiti: Construction of the Four Bridges Center-Artibonite Loop
Matière® won a major tender in April 2019 for the construction of four new bridges in Haiti, some 150 km north of the capital Port-au-Prince.
The construction of these four bridges will create an urban alternative to the rampant metropolization of the capital Port-au-Prince. This project will also be an example of regional planning for the entire Haitian territory. The Center-Artibonite loop is located on the departments of the Center, Artibonite and North, in an area far from major seismic faults and relatively protected from cyclones.
The various Unibridge® steel/concrete bridges will be set up in partnership with a Haitian company.
According to the technical plans made by our research department:
- The Rio Frio bridge will have a length of 63.10 m and will be made in two spans of 34.20 m and 28.90 m;
- The Bonbon and Wallondry bridges will have a length of 34.20 m;
- The Attalaye bridge will have a span of 45.60 m;
- All the works will have a width of 10.50 m.
The four structures will be manufactured by the Creusot (71) and Bagnac-sur-Célé (46) plants in the last quarter of 2019 and will be transported to Haiti before being installed by crane.
This new contract will bring to 25 the number of bridges built by Matière® in this Caribbean country for the last ten years. Remember the Mirebalais Bridge in 2014 or the Bouyaha Unibridge Bridge in 2017.
