Mouhoun Bridge in Burkina Faso
Matière® is currently working in Burkina Faso for the construction of the Mouhoun bridge. The launch phase of the bridge ended on Saturday, March 24th. The launching took place over two days and satisfied the curiosity of the authorities invited by SOGEA / SATOM (representatives of the Ministry of Infrastructure, European Union, local authorities …) who discovered the technique of launching the mixed bridges, a first at Burkina Faso.
Despite difficult conditions and especially hot weather, this operation went very well. The field team of 3 Matière® employees worked hard to finalize the installation of the structure and to apply an anti-corrosion complex. They worked 12 nights in a row to be ready on time.
This 107 m long and 12 m wide PRS (Welded Composite Beams) structure consists of two rows of beams with a height of 1.7 m and a total weight of 204 T. It is intended for the crossing of the Mouhoun River on RN1 in Boromo about 200 km southwest of Ouagadougou.
It is a structure manufactured and delivered by the MBB factory of Ocquier. The metal bridge was received at the end of November 2017 by SOGEA. Vinci’s design office, the TR-ENGINEERING inspection mission and an expert commissioned by the European Union, were able to measure the company’s excellent know-how in the area of assembling, welding and painting and as well as our respect for the quality.
