Unibridge® Bilder Bridge in Sundsvall, Sweden
A Unibridge® bridge has recently been installed in Sundsvall, Sweden. This structure is located on the east coast of the country, about 400 km from Stockholm.
The 45.6 m Unibridge® is used to allow temporary access to the river for a period of 2 to 3 years. During this period, the current bridge must be demolished and replaced by a new engineering structure.
Unibridge® box girders were first placed on floating pontoons and lifted in tandem by two cranes. This temporary metal bridge is 7m wide and is completed with a 2m wide metal sidewalk for pedestrian safety.
The Unibridge®-type bridges developed a few years ago by Matière® design offices can be installed in various situations. As temporary structures, like here, as part of the replacement of a structure, but also as permanent bridges. These bridges are indeed designed for a lifetime of a century.
